Bodegas La Horra
The Bodegas La Horra project by Carmé Pinós in Burgos, National Architecture Award 2021, is conceived as an architectural piece that rises with restraint from the terrain, supported by a reinforced concrete structure composed of columns, walls and solid slabs, with certain areas resolved using hollow-core slabs to optimise spans and structural efficiency. To the south, the architecture opens onto the landscape through an envelope that combines aluminium and glass with solid clay brick walls, whose texture and tone evoke the traditional adobe of the region. Along this façade, our aluminium systems play a key role in generating clean lines, near-invisible profiles and a visual continuity that accentuates the geometry of the building.
The concealed-sash ARS-72 HO casement window stands out for its ability to offer a refined reading of the openings: its reduced visible section of just 65 mm and its slender, minimalist design emphasise the verticality and purity of the glazed surfaces, while its thermal break ensures an energy performance aligned with the thermal inertia strategy of the semi-buried structure. Complementing this solution, the PRS-72 Panel door system offers a versatility that allows the use of either glass or panel, facilitating the transition between opaque and transparent areas without disrupting compositional continuity; its coplanar configuration and compatibility with curtain-wall systems broaden the design possibilities, especially at junctions between different materials.
Where transparency becomes the main component, the ECW-50 TL curtain-wall system acts as the element that amplifies the building’s relationship with the landscape, allowing large glazed surfaces with only a 50-mm visible profile in the supporting structure and a continuous reading of the glass, reinforcing the luminosity and openness of the southern façade.
The interaction between these three systems defines a precise control of light, depth and façade density, contributing to an architecture that is refined and deeply attuned to its setting.
