Foundry Technician
At Exlabesa, we are looking for a Foundry Technician to join our team on-site at one of our production facilities. We are seeking a technical professional with knowledge of aluminium metallurgy and a passion for optimising industrial processes, who is looking to develop their career within a leading international industrial company.
Mission
To be part of the Foundry technical team, ensuring the stability of the aluminium billet casting process while improving product quality, productivity and overall plant efficiency.
Key Responsabilities
- Provide technical support for the melting, holding and continuous casting processes.
- Monitor and optimise production process parameters.
- Carry out quality inspections on aluminium billets, including metallographic analysis, ultrasonic testing, visual inspection and the use of measuring instruments such as callipers, rulers, protractors and tape measures.
- Analyse production issues and define corrective and preventive actions.
- Work closely with the Production, Quality, Maintenance and Laboratory teams to resolve process-related issues.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects aimed at increasing metal yield, reducing energy consumption and minimising scrap.
- Analyse production KPIs, including OEE, productivity, metal yield, energy consumption and quality performance.
- Prepare production records and reports, including spectrometer results, production volumes, temperatures and the chemical composition of daily casts.
- Manage and update records relating to scrap, alloying element and ingot consumption, equipment breakdown summaries and production forecasts, among others.
- Perform weekly cleaning and calibration of spectrometers.
Candidate Profile
- Degree in Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering or an equivalent technical qualification.
- Experience in industrial manufacturing processes, preferably within an aluminium foundry environment.
- Knowledge of aluminium metallurgy, extrusion alloys (6xxx series), melting, refining and degassing processes, metallurgical quality control and data analysis.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency in standard IT applications.
- Strong analytical skills, initiative and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Desirable
- Experience in aluminium foundries or extrusion plants.
- Knowledge of Quality Management Systems, particularly ISO 9001 and IATF 16949.
- Technical English proficiency.
